The five most popular homes for browsing Britons online via Rightmove’s website so far this year have been revealed, and all come with multi-million pound price tags.
None of the most viewed homes are located in city centres and all have ample indoor and outdoor space, as wishful hunters seemingly snoop on properties likely to be well out of their price range.
The average cost of a home in Britain rose by 13.2 per cent to a record high of £266,000 in the year to June, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.
But, as a nation of dreamers, prospective buyers of the most popular homes listed online need far deeper pockets.
Spanning the Lake District, Cornwall, Essex, Surrey and Devon, the five most viewed homes on Rightmove are up for sale for between £2.4million and £30million.
Tim Bannister, director of property data at Rightmove, said: ‘We’ve seen the busiest ever first half of a year in 2021, and while much has changed in the housing market, the nation’s obsession with property and searching for their dream home has stayed the same.’
‘From vast open views over Lake Windermere, to an Essex mansion complete with private gym and Equestrian Centre, it’s clear the luxury end of the market is still piquing the nation’s interest.’
